How to Reach Dubai
Dubai International Airport (DXB) is one of the world's busiest and best-connected airports — a direct flight away from virtually every major city on Earth. Emirates and flydubai provide excellent connectivity. The Dubai Metro Red Line runs directly from the airport to Downtown Dubai in 35 minutes for a fraction of taxi cost.
Buy a Nol card for the Dubai Metro and bus — clean, fast, and air-conditioned, it is the cheapest and often fastest way to navigate the city. Dubai taxis are also metered and affordable by Western standards.
Top Things to See & Do
1. Burj Khalifa
The world's tallest building at 828 metres is a genuine feat of human ambition. The observation decks on floors 124, 125, and 148 offer views across the desert, the Gulf, and the extraordinary urban landscape of Dubai that are genuinely staggering. Book At the Top tickets online in advance.
2. Dubai Frame
The 150-metre picture-frame structure bridges old Dubai and new Dubai in one extraordinary viewpoint — old windtower neighborhoods on one side, the glittering skyscraper skyline on the other. The glass floor walkway between the two towers is vertigo-inducing.
3. Old Dubai — Deira & Bastakiya
The historic quarters across Dubai Creek from modern Downtown offer a completely different Dubai. The spice souk, the gold souk, the abra (traditional boat) crossing, and the wind-tower architecture of Al Fahidi neighborhood reveal a city with genuine history beneath the spectacle.
4. Desert Safari
An evening desert safari — dune bashing in a 4x4, camel riding, sandboarding, and a Bedouin camp dinner under the stars with falconry demonstrations — is the quintessential Dubai experience that most visitors treasure most.
5. The Dubai Mall & Dubai Fountain
The world's largest mall by total area contains an indoor ski slope, an aquarium, an ice rink, and 1,200 shops. The Dubai Fountain outside — the world's largest choreographed fountain — performs to music every evening on the Burj Khalifa Lake. It is genuinely spectacular.

Best Time to Visit
November to March is Dubai's winter — perfect weather (25–30°C) for outdoor activities, beach, and sightseeing. Summer (June–September) is extremely hot (45°C+) but indoor attractions, shopping, and beach clubs with shade are enjoyable, with hotel rates at their lowest.
